    Her diverse background includes training in surgical and aesthetic medicine, with a special focus on breast reconstruction and post-mastectomy care.   • Georgette Dunn, C.A.A.R.T.E., - A.A.R.T. Director of Education and Training

    Georgette Dunn is a highly acclaimed and compassionate medical tattooist, renowned across Canada and internationally for her mastery in areola and reconstructive tattooing. With almost two decades of experience in the art and science of cosmetic and medical tattooing, Georgette has become a leading figure in the industry, known for her meticulous technique, artistic skill, and deep commitment to her patients. Her work focuses on creating natural, lifelike areolas that help individuals regain confidence and a sense of normalcy after breast reconstruction or trauma.

    Georgette’s journey into medical tattooing began with a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. As a Canadian Indigenous woman and a Metis Kwe with roots deep in Georgian Bay, she brings a unique perspective and cultural richness to her work. Her altruism and dedication to her craft have earned her a reputation as a trusted professional and mentor to many emerging artists. She continually advances her skills through ongoing education and training, staying at the forefront of industry developments. Georgette is celebrated not only for her technical excellence but also for her warm, empathetic approach, understanding the emotional and psychological significance of her work.

    Throughout her career, Georgette has contributed extensively to the growth and recognition of medical tattooing as a vital aspect of holistic patient care. She is a sought-after speaker, trainer, and educator, frequently sharing her expertise at conferences and workshops across the country.

    Her Role at CAARTE

    Georgette Dunn is a founding member of CAARTE and serves as a key leader within the organization. Her expertise and reputation as a master medical tattooist are integral to CAARTE’s mission to elevate standards of practice, promote safety, and set industry benchmarks for quality. Georgette’s role involves curriculum development, mentorship, and contributing to the organization’s efforts to formalize and regulate areola tattooing across Canada. She actively participates in training programs, helping shape the curriculum to ensure high standards of artistry and safety. Her dedication to the cause underscores CAARTE’s vision of professional recognition, accreditation, and industry growth. Through her leadership, Georgette continues to inspire practitioners and advocates for the advancement of safe, ethical, and exceptional areola restoration practices.

  • Lauren Willoughby, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., Medical Liaison/Physician Engagement Lead

    Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Lauren Willoughby is a skilled general plastic surgeon with a special interest in breast surgery and cancer reconstruction. She completed her Medical School at the University of Toronto and pursued a five-year residency in Plastic Surgery at McMaster University.

    Dr. Willoughby further enhanced her expertise during a fellowship in Advanced Breast Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery at the renowned Royal Women’s and Royal Melbourne Hospitals in Melbourne, Australia. She has also received specialized fellowship training in sarcoma reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery, fat grafting, and body contouring after massive weight loss, working alongside leading experts such as Drs. Dean Trotter, Derek Neoh, and Eldon Mah.

    In addition to her focus on breast surgery, Dr. Willoughby’s practice includes hand surgery, hand and craniofacial injuries, trauma management, skin cancer excision, and reconstruction.

    She practices at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and Georgetown Hospital and holds privileges at Milton District Hospital, Joseph Brant Hospital, and Trillium Health Partners. Dr. Willoughby is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University, where she actively mentors and trains residents and medical students.

    Her Role at CAARTE

    Dr. Willoughby serves as the Medical Liaison on CAARTE’s Board of Directors and is the Physician Engagement Lead. In these roles, she works to foster communication between practitioners and the organization, promote industry standards, and support the development of accreditation processes. Her involvement is vital in guiding CAARTE’s initiatives to elevate safety, professionalism, and recognition within the field of areola tattooing and reconstructive practices. Her leadership aims to strengthen the organization’s mission of ensuring high-quality, safe, and ethical care across Canada

  • Bryan Chung, M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.S.C., Gender-Affirming Education

    Dr. Bryan Chung, M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.S.C., is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who recognizes that sexually and gender diverse clients have unique needs in meeting their vision of their true selves.

  • Carla Ricciardone, Director of Pigment Science and Industry Partner

    Carla Ricciardone is a seasoned PMU (permanent makeup) artist, medical tattooist, and a leading ink manufacturer. With her extensive expertise in pigment science and her commitment to industry excellence, Carla has become a recognized leader in aesthetic and reconstructive tattooing. She is passionate about advancing safe, innovative, and high-quality pigment techniques that support practitioner success and patient safety.

    Carla’s philosophy is that areola tattooists are only as good as their healed work, and understanding the ink that goes into the skin is key to achieving natural, durable results. As Director of Pigment Science and a CAARTE Industry Partner, she plays a vital role in educating both physician and non-physician practitioners on best practices for healed work, exclusively using her trusted inks, Enhance and Embody.

    Serving on CAARTE’s Board of Directors, Carla contributes her expertise in pigment formulation, safety protocols, and industry innovation. Her leadership helps shape initiatives to uphold high standards for healed work, product safety, and practitioner proficiency. Carla’s dedication to education and quality makes her a critical voice in advancing CAARTE’s mission to elevate standards, promote industry integrity, and support practitioners in delivering safe, high-quality care.
